Cytoskeleton

The cytoskeleton is an organelle that can only be found in animal cells. The function of the cytoskeleton is to support the cell similar to what the cell wall does for plant cells. The cytoskeleton is made up of many small protein filaments that give the cell some structure and support so the cell does not collapse in on itself. The picture below shows an abstract idea of what the cytoskeleton in a cell is like (other organelles not shown).
