Some may say that the Fundamental Attribution Error gives people an excuse not to take responsibility for their actions. If it is an "error" to attribute a person's actions to that person's innate characteristics, then everything that happens to them is a result of consequence, chance, luck or, fate. Therefore, that individual is powerless to prevent, create, or modify their destiny. and thus not responsible for his/her actions. What are your thoughts on this argument?
Taken to that extreme, it sounds like the idea of "determinism."
But yes, I see how it could be extended to that.
