The Trajectory of the Mars Science Lab can't aim for where Mars is - it has to aim for where Mars will be. The launch of the Curiosity rover also has to account for gravity produced by the sun and other planetary bodies that might affect the flight path.

The Mars Curiosity rover is scheduled to land on Mars August 5/6, 2012.
