I think the overall flow of the course could be improved, rather than jumping around to various content (punctuation, content, writing style). It might be easier to learn and follow a course where each unit builds on the last. Overall it was a good course, but the Touchstone projects were very difficult. In particular, the number of elements required for a good touchstone. This is an early level English course but the requirements were more complicated than my 300 level Psychology courses. It was difficult to have to keep so many requirements in mind while writing and revising. I always considered my English skills to be proficient, but this course was extremely challenging.

Hi Lisa— Congratulations on your successful course completion! Yes, this is a challenging college-level Composition course, meaning there is a substantial amount of writing work required. The class structure needs improvement. The question are not all based on the same information in the lectures. The multiple teaches is good to find a teacher fits your learning still but some teacher go over different information. This meant you had to listen to multiple teachers on one lesson which is time consuming for an accelerated course. Also a written tutorial on all the lessons would be nice.

Hi Tom— Congratulations on your successful course completion! While each of the tutorials is designed to provide you with the information needed to answer the assessment questions, our Learning Coach team is here to provide further assistance with the material when needed. We appreciate your feedback about adding a written tutorial, and will certainly pass this on to our course development team. Congratulations again on earning these credits!

This was a challenging course with reviews that I definitely needed. With that being said, I do feel that some of the coursework is geared towards an Individual wanting to major in English or teach that subject.

While I thought this was an informative course and I loved getting personal feedback on my writing, it is a ton more work than Sophia courses that are worth the same number of credits. I think some load balancing may need to be done on this course.
Sophia replied on April 19, 2017

Hi Kristin— Congratulations on your successful course completion! We're glad to hear you enjoyed this course overall. As a rigorous college-level Composition course, there is a substantial amount of writing work required, and we do offer extensions when students feel they need more time for their essays. Congratulations again on earning these credits!

I loved the access you have to the chat online with people who are more than willing to help in every way possible. It was a different experience than Capella but it kept me interested and helped me learn in another aspect.

Overall the course was very good and I would recommend it to people. The only negative was that there was one instructor, Mackenzie, whose videos I really liked. The other instructor videos were not engaging and the quality wasn't very good. When I came to sections where Mackenzie didn't have videos I found it hard to concentrate and lost focus/interest. This of course is all personal preference.
Sophia replied on April 5, 2017

Hi Kristopher— Congratulations on your successful course completion! We certainly appreciate your feedback about your preferred instructor, as we work to continuously improve the student learning experience. Congratulations again on completing the course!
