Confirmation of completion?

I am creating an online module and would like them to go over everything on my playlist (and answer all the quiz questions) before class. Is there a way they can print out something that says that they finished the module (ie. a certificate of completion)?

Could students earn badges like teachers do?

What if students received a badge for each playlist/pathway completedd? For some students this would be a great motivating factor. Also if teachers or group leaders could see the badges earned, it would create a very visual tracking system for both.

There is a badging system in place that works for both students and teachers. We are looking into making it a little more friendly and increase the badging options for students as gamification is really catching on. Feel free to list the "top ten badges" you'd like to see students earn and I'll be sure to share them with the team here.

As far as tracking, if you click on the user profile for your students the badges earned show up right next to the avatar. Have you seen Credly.com? If you're really a gamer, ought to check them out!

If it was necessary, they could take a screen shot of the playlist when they are logged in. The students do have a green bar of progress that shows completion. Not sure how you'd have them submit - text you a screen shot or print it - either way would work.

As Mary said, using the content data and choosing just the content from your playlist will show you exactly what you're looking for. Let me know if you want more specifics and details and I'll try to put together something we can post here for you and others with the same ideas.

With the group feature on Sophia, you can track your students progress on any playlist or tutorial that you add to that group. The analytics are pretty powerful. This playlist has great info on using groups in Sophia http://www.sophia.org/playlists/the-scoop-on-groups

Hi Pam,

We only count time on the tutorial if the browser tab is active and you're only able to have one active browser tab at a time. So it's possible that your student had two open tabs next to each other. One had the video playing. The other tab had something else going on. If the mouse was "focused" on the tab with the "something else" open, then it wouldn't count that time on the tutorial, even if the video was playing in the background.

Regarding the quiz answers, at this time there is no way for you to see your students' answers. We only track number of correct answers and number of attempts made.

Hi Mary,

I have a group for my course, but for some reason my analytics are not what my students tell me they are. Ex. a student swears he watches the full videos each time - but my analytics tell me, for an example, that he watches 8 out of 12 minutes. He is a very honest young man (college age) and he does know the content.

Also do you know if there is a way to get their answers? I have the quiz questions for them, but can only see if they got 3 right.

I think this is a wonderful idea. Kids love positive feedback.

Hi, Diana! For right now, there's no certificate of completion for your students to receive. But that's a great idea and we'll share it with the team here at Sophia!
