Ratio- comparing two quantities with the same unit of measure


Proportion- two ratios set equal to each other 

Solving Ratios and Proportions

Ratio- simplify to simplest form.  Ratios are fractions, which need to be put into simplest form. Sometimes, these ratios cannot be simplified, therefore it is already simplified no matter how high the numbers may be. 


Proportion- cross multiply and solve as a double-sided equation.
