The customer is requiring a network that will provide all students and faculty withinternet access throughout the building and multiple floors.Proposed TopologyA star topology is recommended as this will be the most efficient and cost effective method toprovide service through-out the campus. This will allow for redundancy and resiliency. Cat 6copper cabling will be used, this will provide over 100Mbps of speed and allowing room forgrowth in the future while keeping cost down and minimizing troubleshooting and loss ofconnectivity by isolation. The cable infrastructure will be run from the first floor closet to eachclassroom/lab/office, two Mulitmode fiber cables will be run through the floor raiser to thesecond floor closet for connectivity also keeping attenuation and degradation down by usingfiber.JustificationUsing CAT 6 copper cabling will provide efficient and reliable interconnection and internetconnection while saving major on investment. The percentage of copper cable faults are verylow to none VS. fiber cabling which is much more expensive to fix and depending on a break willrequire a new run which could cost double the price of copper. Troubleshooting is a lot fastersaving of having a technician spending hours of troubleshooting time and isolation of thenetwork and area is easier.B. Network MediaProposed Network Media (include network wiring diagrams)JustificationAs justified previously this is the best solution and most cost effective solution to implement.
