  • Reflect upon and self-assess your current use of active reading skills.

  • Identify and be able to use SQ3R

In this tutorial, you will learn about active reading skills. These skills will help you to recall and apply information you obtain through printed text. Active reading has many benefits. First and foremost, it gets you involved in the material through previewing, reading, and reviewing.

SQ3R and Active Reading

Active readers break reading up into a 3step process. Each step uses its own thinking activities.

The reading process used is : SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review). SQ3R is a reading strategy to help you comprehend and retain information.
