Author: Beth Barsness
  1. Students will participate in a simulation during which they will discuss major issues that are affecting Post-Colonial African nations and find ways to solve these issues.
  2. Students will conduct research to gather information on various countries in Africa and the issues that impact the people in Africa.
  3. Students will be able to explain how a country’s level of economic development affects the country’s ability to meet the needs of its people and overcome the issues it faces as a country.

The students will participate in a simulation of a meeting of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), an organization comprised of African countries and islands surrounding Africa, to discuss and debate current issues and/or problems for a specific African country.  Students will try to develop solutions to these issues and/or problems.
