The Counting On Strategy is very helpful for addition sentences where you have the numbers 1, 2 or 3 as part of the equation. You start with the larger number and then keep counting from that number by 1, 2 or 3 depending on what you are adding. For example… if you have the addition sentence 6 + 3. You simply take 6 and count 3 more… 7, 8, 9.
