Carrying Capacity

Author: Nathan Lampson

There are several ways that a population's size can be limited.  The maximum population that can be sustained by an environment is known as the carrying capacity of an environment.

Example:

If a fenced field can sustainably grow enough grass to feed 23 cattle, but not enough to support 24 cattle,  23 cattle is the carrying capacity of the field.
