I ask all of my students to clearly state WHAT the question is asking. The two main concepts that we are learning in this lesson are scale factor and area of certain shapes.
HOW do we do this? We find the scale factor by taking a scale dimension and use it as our numerator of our ratio, while putting it over the ACTUAL dimension which serves as our denominator.
This is example 1 of Lesson 19. It explains how to find scale factor as well as how to find the area of a rectangle.
This is example 2 for lesson 19 where Mr. Parks explains how to find scale factor as well as how to calculate the area of a triangle.
