Hi, everyone. My name is Mario, and I'd like to welcome you to today's lesson on the creative design process. So this is going to be kind of a quick overview as to what it is and why it's important. Now, as always, feel free to pause, fast forward, and rewind at your own pace. And when you're ready to go, let's begin.

So let's begin by defining creative process. Creative process is a step-by-step process that designers use to follow a project to completion. So this is actually pretty basic, and it essentially consists of things like planning, ideation, refinement, production, and more that we'll touch on in later lessons.

And I know that as artists and designers, we may be inclined to just jump into a project at times-- and I know that I have, on multiple occasions, just out of sheer excitement or wanting to get started. But it's really important to consider this process in advance, because it's going to help you avoid potential obstacles and pitfalls in the future.

Say, for example, you don't budget ahead of time and don't realize glass is so expensive. And as you're building this piece, you run out of money. Now you're left with this incomplete building. Or maybe you don't realize, as an interior designer, just how long it takes to paint, and you don't get a chance to finish it off by furnishing the design because you ran out of time. Or maybe you just didn't take the time to plan out how something's going to be properly assembled, and now you're left with something that's not only incomplete, but improperly assembled.

So having a step-by-step process can release the pressure of a project by breaking it down into multiple tasks. So just like you would in architecture, you would in paintings. And just like you would in paintings, you would in this lesson. This lesson has to be planned out, too.

Well, that ends this quick lesson for today. Our key term was creative process. And I hope you've enjoyed today's really quick run through the creative process. My name is Mario and I will see you next lesson.
