DNA vs RNA

Author: Nathan Lampson

Nucleic Acids

The structures of Deoxyribonucleic Acid and Ribonucleic Acid have several differences.

DNA - Deoxyribonucleic Acid

Consists of two strands of nucleotides bonded together by hydrogen bonds.

Nucleotides in deoxyribonucleic acid consist of a deoxyribose pentose sugar molecule, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base.

The nucleotides making up DNA are Thymine (T), Adenine (A), Guanine (G), and Cytosine (C)

RNA - Ribonucleic Acid

single strand of nucleotides

contains a ribose pentose sugar molecule instead of deoxyribose pentose sugar

The nucleotides making up RNA are Uracil (U), Adenine (A), Guanine (G), and Cytosine (C)
