Part One: Choose a preschool- or kindergarten-age student and administer the following assessments:
1. Isolating Beginning Sounds
2. Phoneme Blending
3. Yopp-Singer Test of Phonemic Segmentation
These assessments can be found in the assessments area of the Yopp-Singer Test of Phonemic Segmentation page of the Los Angeles County Office of Education website found in the Topic Materials.
Part Two: Analyze the results of the assessment and create a lesson plan that will support the student based on the results of the test.
Part Three: Create a phonics (alphabetic principle) activity that would be appropriate for the child. Use an essential elements of instruction (EEI) lesson plan format.
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
