Objective of the lesson:

The objective of this lesson is for the students to learn about the celebration of El Dia de Los Muertos by learning El Dia de Los Muertos vocabulary and to create a "wordle" document . The students will have an opportunity to enjoy the traditional Mexican foods that are consumed to celebrate el Dia de Los Muertos while sharing their "wordle" documents with the entire class.


This is a 3-Day Lesson

Lesson Plan:

Day 1 & Day 2   

The whole class will be divided into 2 big groups. The first group of students will work on their project on the computer the first day while the other group of students will be waiting their turn researching for more words for their document. The students will be reading their textbook of stories and traditions that take place on El Dia de Los Muertos while they wait their turn for the computer. The students will take turns doing their document and will only have three minutes to complete it. After they finish their document, the students will print it and will have it ready to present to the class the on the third day. The students that have finished their document will go back to reading their textbook.


Day 3

Students will come to class with their favorite Mexican snack or dish to share with the class. Students will put the food on a table with a name tag next to the food plate they bring in order for students to see and read what type of dish it is.The first group of students will get up and will go to the table to present the food they brought and invite the second group to come up to get food. The second group will get up and serve themselves food. The first group of students will go to the front of the class and present their document one by one. After the first group presents their wordle document they will go and serve themselves food and come back to sit and be ready for the second groups presentation. The whole class will have their plate of food and will be enjoying the food while talking about the celebration.
