Hi, everyone. My name is Mario and I'd to welcome you to today's lesson, which is going to be Elements Overview. So as the title suggests, this is going to be a quick overview of the elements, what they are, and how they relate in the visual design process. So feel free to go at your own pace. Fast forward, rewind, and stop as you see fit. And when you're ready, let's dive in.
So elements are the basic building components that construct ones visual design. And they are tools to help the designer convey his or her idea. So think of them like different building blocks that you can use to construct a design.
And those building blocks or elements are dot, line, form, shape, space, texture, value, and color. And we will be going over each one of these in more detail. But it's good to introduce what they are and why they are important. And if you think of those elements as blocks or tools, it's one thing to know what they are, but it's another to really understand how they function, and how others will interact with them as well.
So as a designer in visual communicator, if you know what most common elements are and understand how they are used, then it will help you create more effective pieces and also be able to understand other artists use of the elements, their intentions, and be able to take those skills and techniques to apply them in your own work. So again, keep in mind that this is a list of common elements. And as we proceed, we'll learn why each one of these is important in greater detail in the visual design process.
But for now, that concludes this lesson in intro for today. My name is Mario. And I'll see you next time.
