Welcome to today's lesson, covering and overview of the elements of visual design. Specifically, this lesson will cover:
So elements are the basic building components that construct one’s visual design. They are tools to help the designer convey his or her idea; so think of them like different building blocks that you can use to construct a design.
Those building blocks or elements are dot, line, form, shape, space, texture, value, and color. It's one thing to know what they are, but it's another to really understand how they function, and how others will interact with them as well.
As a designer in visual communications, if you know what most common elements are and understand how they are used, then it will help you create more effective pieces and also be able to understand other artists use of the elements, their intentions, and be able to take those skills and techniques to apply them in your own work.
That concludes this introductory lesson on an overview and importance which discussed the basic building components that construct one’s visual design. Elements of visual design include dot and line.
Keep up the learning and have a great day!
