Author: Nathan Lampson

EUKARYOTIC VS. PROKARYOTIC CELLS

Characteristics of Eukaryotic Cells:

  • has a membrane-bound nucleus to contain genetic information
  • larger and more complex than prokaryotic cells
  • contains organelles with specialized functions
  • plant eukaryotic cells contain a cell wall

Examples of Eukaryotic Cells:

Cells found in protists, fungi, plants, and animals

Characteristics of Prokaryotic Cells

  • lack membrane-bound nucleus to contain genetic information
  • simpler and smaller than eukaryotic cells
  • does not have membrane bound organelles

Examples of Prokaryotic Cells

Bacteria, Archaea Bacteria
