Flipped Classrooms

Author: Kylie McIntyre

Background

Numerous educators are changing their individual teaching methods and experimenting with a flipped classroom model. A flipped classroom delivers instruction online or through a technology device outside of the learning classroom environment and uses class time for homework, experiments, and questions, which is opposite of traditional teaching methods. A flipped classroom provides many opportunities for students to apply the content they have learned at home, to learn through activity, and to get one-on-one help from the teacher about any concepts or problems that were not understood. Flipped learning is a newer trend that is not very popular yet, but schools that have changed to this teaching style have reported positive results.
