Four More Rhetorical Devices: Anadiplosis, Anaphora, Antithesis, and Chiasmus

Anaphora, Antithesis, and Chiasmus

There is a rather loud video ad that auto-plays, so you might want to turn down your volume.

Rhetorical Device Exploration

Watch and read John F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Address; it is directly below this.

Find and quote examples of all of the following rhetorical devices:

6 Metaphors (label any that are similes)
2 Examples of Antithesis
4 Examples of Parallelism
2 Examples of Anaphora
2 Examples of Chiasmus
4 Examples of Repetition
4 concrete/sensory images

There are no examples of anadiplosis in the speech.  If you can find one, bravo; perhaps that is worth an award.

Of course, a metaphor is often an image, anaphora is a type of repetition, and many other examples of these terms overlap.

Upload your completed list to turnitin.com by the beginning of class on Oct. 15th.
