So you want to type fractions in Word...

Much to the annoyance of many of us, Microsoft Word recognizes fractions such as 1/2 when we type them and automatically replaces them with a more fractiony looking thing. Nice feature but it's the automatic replacement that is annoying-we feel like we have no control over what our text looks like.

But Word doesn't recognize most other fractions. So how do we get our fractions to look like fractions?

Fractions in Word for Mac

These instructions work for Microsoft Word on the Mac. The interface is a bit different on a Windows machine, but the basic idea is quite similar.
