If I as a manager, had to help change an employee’s behavior to make him or her more productive I would use and implement the Goal setting theory and the expectancy theory. I would use the goal theory because its a powerful way to motivate people and the goal setting theory is one of the most accepted motivational and valid theories (N.A., 2013). However, I would also us the expectancy theory because this theory motivates people to work hard towards rewards, bonuses etc. This theory has offered proved to offer a powerful explanation of employee productivity.
