The road less traveled, is usually the road that leads to success. Hmm, sounds like a great quote. It is true however, getting started online can be quiet confusing and, for some, fly right over their heads.

But, it does not have to be or feel that way. As a matter of fact, there are many people finding success online today through following some of the simplest and most practical internet marketing strategies online. Let’s take a look at them together.

Where To Start Your Online Journey

Rule number one before we get into the “nitty-gritty” is to follow your passion. Nothing is worse than finding yourself trying to create content and more content on a subject matter, product or service you are bored out of your mind with.

So, make sure you are passionate about the business you are looking to build, it just makes sense.

Alright, let’s look at 3 simple platforms to get you going!

I wrote a piece awhile back called “the tale of three perfect blogging platforms.” While I will not rehash the story of my beginnings here, at lest there you can see how these platforms helped me personally.

Here are the platforms every beginner should learn:

1. Set up and manage a WordPress website and blog.
2. Video marketing and social media.
3. Email marketing.

So, in the end, what we are really getting into here is blogging, video marketing, sharing the content and making sure you follow up with your current subscribers.

Let’s start with blogging.

Content creation is the cornerstone today for any business presence online. It is so important in fact, that more and more Fortune 500 companies are using it today, and more are coming…

Blogging Facts:

You might have noticed that your blog is not the only one within the blogosphere! In fact, 3 million new blogs come on online every month!

Most used platforms are WordPress and Blogger, followed by Tumblr. has over 63 Million has over 63 Million blogsthere are about 63 million WordPress sites around!

More than 50% of bloggers have more than one blog!

So, where is your answer to the questions being asked online about your awesome products, services and or, opportunities? Nowhere? Hmmm.

This is why you should get started with a WordPress website and blog, yes, I said BLOG. Blog content is an up to date and fresh way to create the kind of content people are looking for.

Of course “evergreen” content should be a must, and even some of your post will become just that. But the freshness of a blog is a perfect marketing platform for any new person wanting drive traffic online.

Video And Social Media.

Video and social media should go hand in hand, much like posting video to your blog! Youtube is a bigger platform than Facebook, and should be treated thus.

When SEO’s talk about link building and engagement, these platforms are where we build just that, links and community.

When you create video, blog or other content on the web, you share it. When someone else in your industry or niche creates some content you feel is valuable, you share that too.

I do not look at competition as competition in a business sense online; I see building communities.

Video is now the sixth most popular content marketing tactic, as 70% of B2B marketers use some form of online video with their overall strategies.
YouTube averages 4 billion hits each day, and 61% of B2B marketers leverage YouTube to extend the reach of their messaging and brands.

Create a blog post, 2 each week. Make a video for both. Share it to 5 social media platforms. DO this each week for 12 weeks, and see what happens.

Email Marketing.

1-2 emails a week is good. Make at least 1-2 a month a blog post, something to educate and actually help your subscribers accomplish something. Build trust!

Internet marketing for the beginner is not really that hard to master. SEO is simple, but building trust, well that is the tricky part that requires you being transparent, helpful and, trustworthy.
