Key Vocabulary

Libero: The libero is a player specialized in defensive skills. The libero must wear a different jersey color from his or her teammates so he/she can be easily identified.  This player cannot block or attack the ball when it is entirely above net height.

Spike: The act of scoring a point by slamming the ball over the net into the opposing court within boundaries.

Dig: The ability to prevent the ball from touching the court after a spike or attack.

Set: The set is the second contact that the team makes with the ball. The main goal of setting is to put the ball in the air so it can be driven by an attack into the opponent's court.

Serve: A player stands behind the inline and serves the ball, in an attempt to drive it into the opponent's court.
