Hi, my name is Ashley, and welcome to this introduction to implementing adaptive learning approaches to meet diverse needs of all learners. In this unit, we will analyze the constructivism theory and the cognitive flexibility theory as it is related to adaptive learning. We will also study the role of the teacher in the adaptive learning setting.
In this unit, you will investigate adaptive learning management systems and discover how they support the K through 12 classroom instruction. Lastly, you will learn the tools in order to reflect on the uses of adaptive learning with all types of learners, such as students with disabilities, English language learners, and students who are gifted and talented.
This unit will analyze the constructivism theory and the cognitive flexibility theory. First, we will look into the origins of each of the theories and examine the characteristics that makes each theory unique. We will identify key players in development of the theory and how it has evolved. Lastly, we will discover how each of the theories are connected to adaptive learning and review tips for uses in the classroom.
This unit will also focus on studying the role of the teacher in the adaptive learning setting. You will find that the teacher in this setting is much different from the traditional teacher that we have come to know. We will compare the differences between the role of the teacher and the two settings. We will also provide tips and things to keep in mind when implementing adaptive learning into the classroom to meet the needs of all learners.
The main topic of this unit is adaptive learning management systems. We will investigate this topic through many of the lessons. First, we will define, what is adaptive learning? And what is a learning management system? We will discover how these tools can be helpful to your learners and provide your learners with personalized instruction.
Then we will go through the steps on how to ensure that you're implementing the learning tools in your classroom effectively to meet your students needs. These units will especially be important as we move on and reflect on how the adaptive learning management system can support gifted students, students with disabilities, and English language learners.
This unit will also reflect on the uses of adaptive learning with all learners. Every student is not the same, so why should they be taught the same? In these units, we will discover how the learning management system and adaptive learning can be adapted to meet the needs of the gifted and talented students, English language learners, and students with disabilities.
We'll first look at the demographics of each group of students in the K through 12 classroom setting. Then we will look at the challenges that they face and how the adaptive learning system can be beneficial in tackling those challenges by providing individualized instruction. We will also take a look at educational researcher Robert Marzano's list of reflective questions to ensure that we are indeed creating effective instruction for our students.
So let's recap the main topics of this unit. We will analyze the constructivism theory and the cognitive flexibility theory as it is related to adaptive learning. We will also study the role of the teacher in the adaptive learning setting. We will investigate adaptive learning management systems and discover how they support the K through 12 classroom instruction. We will also reflect on the uses of adaptive learning with all types of learners, such as students with disabilities, English language learners, and students who are gifted and talented.
This unit has a lot to offer, and there's so much information to provide on implementing adaptive learning approaches to meet diverse needs of all learners. Here are some lessons to look forward to. Good luck as you become an expert on adaptive learning and meeting the needs of all of your students.
