This course focuses on rules and risk management for nurses practicing synchronous telehealth. Telehealth nursing, telenursing, and nursing telepractice are all commonly used terms to describe this field. Telehealth has gained popularity and is used to facilitate caring for patients in rural and underserved areas, to improve continuity of care, to increase convenience for patients outside normal office hours, and to promote social distancing during health emergency situations.
Telehealth takes many forms in the nursing field. The most common are triage, assessment of patient symptoms, collaborating on a patient plan of care across disciplines, patient education, and outcome evaluation.
