Although many of the jobs lost during the economic downturn are not coming back, a new wave of positions being created has helped open the door to candidates with a variety of experience on their resumes.
Job seekers can find an array of new opportunities by staying on top on industry trends and making sure that they keep their skills relevant in order to compete in today's changing market, David Dirks, author of "Job Search Marketing: Finding Job Opportunities in Any Economy," wrote in New York's Times Herald-Record.
Dirks said that candidates who take action by constantly preparing and upgrading to meet market demands will be the most successful.
Job seekers should do their research to see where the new openings are being created, and make sure they have the necessary skill set to transition into another position within their field or look to change careers altogether. Dirks said that careers and jobs are constantly in a state of change due to advancements in knowledge and technology, and job seekers also need to constantly move ahead with the current.
According to the Best Resume Writing Services, there were approximately 3.7 million job openings in the U.S. as of April 2020.
