CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.K.2 Confirm understanding of a text read aloud or information presented orally or through other media by asking and answering questions about key details and requesting clarification if something is not understood.
When doing a read aloud for kindergarten its important to ask questions at key stopping points of the book. The teacher should ask open ended questions. Example "Oh, what's going on here?", "How do you think the characters feels?" etc.
When picking a book for your read aloud it is a good idea to pick a book that is one or two grade levels above your grade. Since you are reading the story you can stop and explain what some of the higher level words mean.
