You need to plan a route to drive from (1) your friend's house to (2) your home. Examine the map below. Plan the most direct route from your friend's house to your house, and provide turn by turn directions (using relative directions, rather than cardinal directions).

First, we need to decide on the most efficient route. The most efficient route involves as few turns as possible. There are a couple of options, as they all involve only 3 turns, which is the fewest number of turns possible. You may have decided on these routes:

You might prefer the first route for a number of different reasons. First, it doesn't involve going north, as in the third option, which seems unnecessarily since your house is to the southwest. Secondly, it involves the fewest number of streets, because we travel on Colonial Road twice. This means there are less street names to remember.
