Lewis dot diagrams are used to represent the valence electrons on elements, or to represent molecules by showing things like bonding pairs of electrons, lone pairs of electrons, single bonds, double bonds, triple bonds, or resonance forms. Although we will eventually look at each of these aspects of a Lewis Dot diagram, in this packet, we'll start small, and look at Lewis Dot diagrams of individual elements.
This video introduces Lewis Dot diagrams and shows how to creat a Lewis Dot diagram for an element.
Now that you understand how to create Lewis Dot diagrams for individual elements, you can start putting these together to create Lewis Dot structures for simple molecules. Check out THIS PACKET for more information!
