- Explore polynomials

- Perform operations with polynomials

- Relate real-life situations with polynomial expressions

In this packet, we will learn about the language of mathematics, the terms and definitions associated with polynomials (and algebra), and explore number operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) on polynomials.

Please be advised: I have copies of the in-class assignments for you each day. Save a tree (and time/money) by not printing them off.

Lesson 1 - Introduction to Polynomials

Today, we're talking about the language of mathematics.

Here is the handout for tomorrow's class.

Tomorrow, we will be using the definitions to identify different parts of polynomials as well as different types of polynomials. Just as we said today that it is important to be able to "speak math," we need to build our vocabulary with polynomials so we too can 'talk the talk.'

Here is the worksheet for tomorrow's class on terms and definitions.

Now that we have a basis of how to talk about the math we will encounter this chapter, we can dig right into polynomials. The first topic we need to understand is like terms.

Here is the worksheet for tomorrow's class on like terms.

Here is a quick introduction to algebra tiles. Your homework requires the use of this link:
