Exponent: however many times a number is being multiplied by itself (i.e. (3 x 3 x 3 x 3) = 34... the 4 is the exponent
Power: the actual exponent itself when used, "to the power of..." (i.e. 53 = 5 to the power of three, 5 to the third power)
