We will develop an adequate understanding of the following properties when multiplying exponents:

-Product of powers

-power of a power

-power of a product

Here are explanations of the three multiplication of exponents properties: product of powers, power of a power, and power of a product.

Tutorial

Exponent: however many times a number is being multiplied by itself (i.e. (3 x 3 x 3 x 3) = 3^{4}... the 4 is the exponent

Power: the actual exponent itself when used, "to the power of..." (i.e. 5^{3 }= 5 to the power of three, 5 to the third power)
