Binary Ionic Compound: "An ionic compoud containing only one type of cation and one type of anion. The compound may contain more than two ions but all the cations (usually a metal) are identical and all the anions (usually a nonmetal) are identical." G-2

So basically a nonmetal and a metal (for the most part) making a compound.
