Oregon Trail

Author: Jacob Everett

Students will be able to complete their journey through the Oregon Trail as a group. Students will also be able to journal about their experiences as they travel along the trail.

For this activity students will need the following; one iPad with the Oregon Trail app, a journal handout explaining what criteria students must meet for their journal, paper, pencil. Students are in family groups and play the roles of family members as they travel along the Oregon Trail. Families will be faced with difficult decisions such as; whether to stop and hunt for food, when to rest, how best to cross a river, etc. As students travel along the trail, they will keep a journal about the events that happen along the way.
