Preparing for a Job Interview

Author: Laura Riness
Description:

In this tutorial, students will learn the basics of preparing for a face-to-face job interview.  Topics covered include:

  • How to mentally prepare for a job interview
  • How to physically prepare for a job interview
  • What to wear to an interview
  • Things that may "make" or "break" a job interview

Many people list preparing for a job interview as one of the most potentially nerve-wracking experiences of one's adult life.  Part of job interview-related anxiety comes from the fear of the unknown.  It is difficult to be in the "hot seat" and to know that one's fate lies in the hands of another person or committee.  However, by becoming knowledgeable of the interview process as a whole the anxiety level can be greatly reduced.  This tutorial covered mental and physical preparation for a job interview, as well as the all-important topic of dressing for success in a job interview.  Learners also became aware of little things that can help or hinder them as they are in the process of interviewing for a new position.
