Hello, and thank you for joining me for Reflection on Collaborative Teaching and Learning. The essential question that we'll be able to answer by the end of today's tutorial is what impact does collaborative teaching and learning have in my classroom?
One way that we can get feedback on the impact that collaborative learning is having in our classroom is by using the Marzano Teacher Evaluation Framework. We're going to look specifically at the personal performance domain. Within that domain, we're looking at three indicators.
Indicator 50 is the first indicator we're going to look at. This is where the teacher can identify areas of strength and weakness in terms of their pedagogy, meaning the way that they deliver the content-- what instructional strategies worked, what learning activities worked, and what didn't.
Indicator 51 asks the teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of individual lessons or units. And when you're doing this reflective aspect, you want to think about them as they currently exist not as you would change them. Then consider the question of how will proficiency-based instruction enhance this unit or lesson?
Indicator 52 asks the teacher to evaluate the effectiveness of specific pedagogical strategies and behaviors. This is different than looking at a specific lesson or unit. This is looking at the way the lesson or unit was delivered.
Was it through workshop? Was it through direct instruction? Was it through lecture? Content? Was it through a flipped classroom? And then ask yourself, how will proficiency-based instruction enhance my pedagogical strategies?
Let's reflect. Will you use this reflection strategy for yourself? Why or why not? Today, we answered the following essential question. What impact does collaborative teaching and learning have in my classroom?
Now it's your turn to apply what you've learned in this video. The additional resources section will be super helpful.
