Rocks and Minerals

Rocks and Minerals

Description:

Students should understand what minerals are and how to identify them.  They should be able to explain the differences between igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rocks.  Finally, they should be able to identify mineral and rock samples using the Earth Science Reference Tables and the physical characteristics of the samples.

In this tutorial, you will be introduced to minerals, igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, and metamorphic rocks.  You will explore their physical and chemical characteristics, and how they can change over time.
