Finding Slope

Today we will be learning about slope. We will learn how to find slope given two points.

Slope = Change in y/ Change in x

Example:   Find the slope given the two points (-2,1) and (0,4).

How do you go from 1 to 4? Add 3.

Put that over, how you get from -2 to 0. Add 2.

+3/+2 = 3/2

All VERTICAL lines have an UNDEFINED slope!

All HORIZONTAL lines have a slope of ZERO!
