Solids, Liquids, and Gases First Grade Lesson

Content Standard: (Science) Physical Science-1- Students know solids, liquids, and gases have different properties.

Content Objective: By the end of this lesson students will be able to explain what solids and liquids are using key vocabulary.

Students will view a Video on 3 States of Matter (Solids Liquids and gases), Titled First Grade Matter Video.

After watching the first video, the students will watch a second video titled Matter Chatter. This short video is a fun song that will help students memorize what solids, liquids, and gases are in a musical way.

After viewing the video, students will view a PowerPoint titled  Solids, Liquids,and Gases. This PowerPoint is very informative and even has an exit ticket that students will be completing at the end of the PowerPoint.

Once student have completed both tasks, the teacher will bring a bag of solids, liquids, and gases the following day and show students each category or bag of items of a time. The students will then have to identify weather the object pulled out of the bag is a solid, a liquid, or a gas.

Then during independent practice, the teacher will give students a worksheet that has pictures of solids, liquids, and gases, and the students will have to cut the items out and glue them in the correct category (solids, liquids, gases). This assignment will be this days exit ticket.
