Description:

Solve equations with variable terms on both sides.

Determine the number of solutions a linear equation has and explain and show how you know.

CCM8.EE7

Common Core standards for 8th grade math require students to know how to solve linear equations in one variable and determine if the equation has one solution, no solution or infinite solutions.  Students will be able to solve linear equations in one variable by first simplifying the equation using the distributive property and combining like terms then determine if the equation will have one, no or infinite solutions by looking at the variable term and constant.
