The Aquaponics System - Sustainable Farming

The Aquaponics System - Sustainable Farming

Author: Dawn Mosier

The objective of this tutorial is to teach students the connections and relationships in the natural world while also teaching them how to be independent of conventional processes; thinking outside the box. Aquaponics is a wonderful system that can be incorporated into the classroom with exceptional hands-on learning experiences with tangible results students can be proud of. There are many different lessons that can go along with this tutorial, so this is really just the opening assignment.

This tutorial explains the process of farming fish in an effort to generate plants for a garden. This complicated scientific process has been broken down into seven easy to understand slides. Students will understand how using waste naturally produced by fish will convert to fertilizer for growing plants in a hydro system.
