The Three Branches of the Government

Legislature

includes the Senate and the House of Representatives. Together they form the Congress. This branch writes the laws.

Executive 

carries out the laws. The President of the United States is the head of this branch. The President can veto a bill or sign it to make it a law.

Judicial 

decides what laws mean and tells whether a law has been broken.
The Supreme Court is the head of this branch
