The outer cover of the brain is the cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex is divided into four lobes: The temporal, occipital, parietal and frontal lobes. These lobes contain neurons that hold the mechanisms responsible for higher mental functions such as: thought, perception, language, thinking, vision and memory.
