Unit F Concept 3-5: Factor Theorem, Remainder Theorem, P's&Q's, Descartes Rule of Signs

Author: Crystal Kirch

Unit F Concept 3 Part 1

This video introduces both the Remainder Theorem and Factor Theorem, which will be essential to our success for the rest of this chapter. Using synthetic division as a tool, we will be able to find both FUNCTION VALUES and ZERO HEROES with the theorems, respectively.

Unit F Concept 3 Part 2

This video continues looking at the Factor Theorem and uses it in order to find the zeroes of a non-factorable polynomial. Because we are just learning this, you are given the first factor (yay!).

Unit F Concept 4 Part 1

This video introduces us to the "Rational Roots Theorem", more commonly known as the "p's and q's". This theorem helps us to narrow down all the possible zeroes from INFINITY to a small number (between 8 and 20, maybe?). This means we have a starting place to find the zeroes and the factors for a polynomial that is not factorable by any method we know of!

Unit F Concept 5 Part 1

This video shows you another way to help narrow down the possibilities of zeroes, called Descartes Rule of Signs!
