URI 101: Welcome to Enrollment Services

First things first!

Here at URI, the office of Enrollment Services is comprised of three different departments. They are Billing, Financial Aid, and Records/Registration. Each department is responsible for many different tasks, and as Enrollment Representatives, it is your responsibility to have some knowledge of most of them.

To start us off, I would first like everyone to take this survey, to see what your backgrounds are regarding Enrollment Services.


Enrollment Services Survey

Billing

The Billing Department is responsible for the following:

  • Fee waivers
    • Accident/Sickness Insurance Fee Waivers
  • Tuition Waivers
    • Employee Waiver (URI, CCRI, RIC)
    • Disabled Veterans Waiver
    • National Guard Waiver
    • Senior Citizens Waiver
    • UCONN Waiver
    • Brown Waiver
  • eBills/Delinquent Paper Bills
  • confirm/track online payments via NetPay
  • Refunds (HigherOne)
    • viewing refunds
    • viewing card status
    • re-ordering cards/sending personal codes
  • Payment Plans (through HigherOne)
  • Late Fees
  • Balance holds
  • Third Party Billing
  • Residency
  • Tuition and Fees (these are for the academic year 2015-2016)

Financial Aid

The Financial Aid office deals with many things within Enrollment Services. They are as follows:

  • Questions regarding FAFSA
  • Verification process/documents
  • Awarding
    • Grants*
      • Federal Pell Grants
      • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
      • University Fund Grants
      • Founders Grants
    • Scholarships*
      • URI Foundation Scholarships
      • Alumni Scholarships
    • Loans
      • Direct Student Loans: Subsidized, Unsubsidized
      • Direct Parent PLUS Loans
      • Health Professions Loans
      • Nursing Loans
    • Work Study*

*If eligible

(Academic Scholarships (Centennial, University, Transfer Merit) are awarded through the Admissions Office. If they are lost for some reason, can be appealed through our office).

  • Cost of Attendance
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress Report (SAP)
    • student has to maintain certain things to be considered for Financial Aid
  • Disbursement of Aid



Records/Registration

The Records and Registration office handles the enrollment process and student records. Tasks include:

  • Academic Standing
  • Second Grade Option
  • Pass/Fail a class
  • Course Registration
  • Permission Numbers
  • Change of Grades
  • FERPA/Third Party Access
  • Leave of Absence/Withdrawals/Readmission
  • Petitions
    • Add/Drop
    • Backdate
  • Summer/Winter J Term
  • Transcripts
  • Enrollment Verifications
  • Diplomas
  • Veterans
