  • Students need to be able to organize data appropriately to answer two different questions.
  • Students will demonstrate their understanding of hypothesis testing by choosing the correct type of hypothesis test and include all the necessary components of a hypothesis test to draw a correct conclusion from their class results.
  • Students will demonstrate their understanding of confidence intervals by choosing the correct interval and include all the necessary components of a confidence interval to draw a correct conclusion from their class results.
  • Students will identify the type of experiment conducted and review the experimental process for flaws or inconsistencies.

The goal of this lesson is to collect real-life data through an airplane tossing experiment.  Students will use statistics to determine if there is a difference between the two designs and distances with respect to gender.

Length of time needed:  1 class period (50 minutes)
