I am the Technology Enhanced Learning Coordinator for the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota where I manage a dynamic unit that supports faculty and teaching staff in the exploration, implementation, and evaluation of technology to enhance teaching and learning. My team includes graduate students AKA Instructional Technology Fellows and undergraduate students AKA Instructional Support Techs. The TEL group provide services such as consultancy with faculty and academic support staff on matters related to integration of technology; analysis of needs, proposal of alternatives followed by design, development and evaluation of solutions for instructional technology integration; training related to needs in the instructional technology; support for instructional technology needs; and awareness of new developments in the ever changing field of instructional technology for enhancement of teaching and learning.
I helped build Sophia and the team of talented people working together to create new ways to approach education. Sophia is a place where everyone can participate in teaching and learning, and where the traditional boundaries of schools and classrooms will fade into history. I joined Sophia in 2009 to help answer a question: “If we could create an online learning experience today, in the world of Facebook, YouTube and Wikipedia … what would it be like?” What a great way to start a company! I am proud of what the Sophia team has created. Join Sophia. Help someone learn. It makes for a better world.
