I am a father of two wonderful girls, a 2 year old and 7 month old. I have been happily married for 11 years.
I enjoy painting, drawing, sculpting, writing (just creating). I like to run, read, and cheer for the Kansas Jayhawks.
Sometimes my dreams are bigger than my abilities.
“I have degrees in”:
I am certified pre-K thru 12th grade in Visual Arts Ed, and K thru 12th grade as a Gifted Ed Facilitator.
I have a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Visual Art Education, and a Masters in Gifted Education. I am currently working toward my ESL certification which I plan to complete before the end this year, 2011. I have put on hold a Masters Thesis that will complete my MFA in Art Education. I hope to get to back to work on this by July or August of this year.
I am currently working as an Elementary Gifted Facilitator in Lawrence, KS. As a Gifted Facilitator I am expected to provide enriched content differentiated to meet the needs of each of my Gifted Identified students. These students’ educational strengths, needs and interests range across all disciplines and subjects. Working with each student to help them remain engaged in the General Education classroom and identify meaningful personal incentives and goals is complicated by seeming endless combinations of personal needs (social emotional, motivational, communicative, organizational, etc.).
To do my job correctly and do my best for my students I cannot limit the range of academic disciplines, subjects, potential career/real world applications, or daily topics that I am willing to explore.
