I am currently teaching Algebra I at Mooresville High School in Mooresville, NC. I have been teaching for 10 years, 8 of which have been at MHS. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and my Masters degree in Administration at Gardner-Webb University. I also received my National Board Certification in 2011.
I began my career in education as an 8th grade Math and Language Arts teacher at Satatesville Middle School. Four years after moving to MHS, I was introduced to technology and the 1:1 classroom. It is because of my experience at MHS that I have grown to love and implement the idea of a flipped classroom. I have been "flipping" for a year now and can't imagine any other method of instruction for my students.
Hi! I've been teaching math for about 15 years and am currently in the process of getting my M.A. degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I enjoy teaching and feel that I'm lucky to be given the opportunity to do it.
I am a high school mathematics teacher in Southern California who absolutely loves to make math meaningful and memorable to my students. I currently teach Algebra 1 to 9th and 10th graders, and Math Analysis Honors to 11th and 12th graders. I teach using a "Flipped Classroom" model, where my students receive instruction at home via video and then come to class ready to discuss, think and work together, and solve problems. Outside of teaching, I enjoy relaxing with my husband, reading fiction, going on walks, and watching our favorite shows on Hulu.
Co-founder of eduCanon. We just launched our platform on September 3rd and I'm looking to learn from the great educators on Sophia to see how we can make eduCanon work best for the flipped classroom. eduCanon is an online learning platform for teachers to build and share interactive video lessons. Teachers can take any video content on YouTube and make it more active through time-embedded formative assessments. eduCanon.com
